Yurttan Sesler/ Voices from the Nation, Karşı Sanat Çalışmaları, Istanbul

For the exhibiion called “Yurttan Sesler” (Freely translated as “Sounds from the Nation”) Maria Sezer covered the walls and the floor with clay. On the wall she painted silhouettes of people filled in with motifs of nature. Exept for a path, the floor was totaly covered with a thick layer of clay. In the clay there were parts of human bodies’ silhouettes outlined by means of a bump-line. Inside these, names of different peoples that through the ages have lived in Anatatolia were written. Even if we cannot hear the sounds of thee people anymore, they are still part of this nation.
